 Seatbelts

Seat belts and helmets must be worn at all times by driver and passenger when on track. We strongly recommend that both arms and legs be covered as well.

If any driver has an aero screen car, full face helmets must be worn.

Mazda on Track has a supply of about 20 helmets for hire on the day at a cost of £10. On a first come, first served basis.

Brakes / Tyres

Prior to arriving please inspect the brakes and tyres of your car to see there is sufficient life in them for the track. Full day drivers will require pads / tyres to be no more than half worn. Session drivers should allow 1mm per session. Please also check the level of your brake fluid and top up as appropriate.

Mazda on track will have a limited supply of EBC Yellow Stuff High Performance Brake pads for purchase on the day. Please let us know if you wish us to bring replacement pads for you including MK3 cars.

General Mechanical condition

Track driving will in general place a greater stress on your car than normal road driving. It is important that you prepare your car for track use. Check your fluid levels. Ensure you have sufficient oil in your engine. If you are doing both morning and afternoon sessions check your oil level between the sessions, the same goes for coolant levels.

Take great car checking a hot engine to but burn or scald yourself.

Also inspect your coolant hoses and belts. If they are on the way out, change them, the track is not the place you want them to burst or break.

Finally inspect the general mechanical condition of your car ensure nothing is loose, broken or leaking.

Take time to warm your car on track, do not go flat out on your first lap, equally after the chequered flag slow to half your track speed and allow your car to cool as you come into the Paddock.

Do not turn your engine straight off, especially if you have a turbo car, but allow the car a minute to circulate coolant to cool.

Do not apply the hand brake, but rather turn the engine off and leave the car in gear, this will avoid the risk of the hand brake sticking to the hot brake discs and also prevent warping of discs.

However, do remember the car is in gear when you go to start again.
